Solar Still Makes Sense in 2020

Solar Still Makes Sense in 2020

Solar Energy in Australia has been a story of significant growth over the decade. Since 2009 cumulative capacity of Solar in Australia has grown from nearly zero to 18,583,305 KWs in June 2020 (as per the Australian PV Institute). To put that into context that is enough power to run an off the shelf light bulb for around 371,666,100 hours. But, is it still worth it to by Solar for your home or Business in 2020?

Hot Kitchen Trends This Year

Hot Kitchen Trends This Year

The kitchen is considered the heart of every home. With everyone forced to stay indoors to slow down the spread of COVID-19, kitchens are seeing more traffic than any place in the house.  In addition to preparing meals, most people prefer to eat, talk, and even work at the kitchen table, a reason you might want to consider a kitchen renovation. Depending on the condition of your kitchen, a few simple upgrades should give it a fresh new look and improved functionality.

Boosting cotton education must be a focus for schools

Press Release from Cotton Australia

Australia is calling for increased education about cotton in schools, after a student survey revealed more could be done to inform young people about Australian agricultural production.

The Food, Fibre and Our Future Report 2020, commissioned by the Primary Industries Education Foundation Australia, found students lacked basic knowledge of many agricultural industries, including cotton production.

Roy's Round Up

Roy's Round Up

There will come a day sometime in the future when I’m not starting my column with a warning about COVID-19, its not that day yet.

Unfortunately, we’re now seeing a possible second wave of the virus in NSW and Victoria. It’s really important that we follow the public health advice, practice social distancing, wash our hands and use sanitiser, and make common sense decision for our own health and the health of our families.

This week I am around the western side of Barwon visiting Baradine, Coonabarabran, Dunedoo, Leadville, Coolah, Rowena, Burren Junction, Come-By-Chance, Narrabri, and Cryon, meeting community groups to talk about health, community development, drought support, and a whole raft of other topics. If there’s an issue you’d lie to raise with me please get in touch with my offices. I look forward to seeing you out in the community.

Stay safe, look after yourself and your community.

Walgett Show

9th and 10th May

2020 Walgett Show Update

While there is still uncertainty with restrictions from COVID-19 a potential date for the 2020 Walgett Show has been found in the 19th-20th September 2020

"While we don't know what will be happening down the track, following discussions of options and also looking at the timing of other local events, the 19th and 20th September is the weekend we could find for a potential postponed Walgett Show this year.

We realise that things are uncertain with COVID-19 and it might  not be possible or safe for a Walgett Show to go ahead at that time, but for now we have a potential new date and will see how things go and keep you posted.

We are thinking of everyone during this challenging time and appreciate the encouragement and assistance from the ASC od NSW and Group 1 (North West Shows) our Showmen's Guild people, Walgett Shire Council and all of our valued supporters and participants and the community".
